Oh that Fibonacci – you scare me!
Jul.17, 2012
Just a little.
My knitting was not actually intended to be such a close rendition of a wing shape. I am working on a scarf or shawl depending on my mood and my ability to count and then to knit what could be 610+ stitches with umpteen short rows.
Fibonacci is such a surprising sequence, this knitting does have short rows of 2 stitches – not the Fibonacci Sequence at all, but all the increases follow the Fibonacci Sequence.
I hope someone out there has other ideas for knitting with the Fibonacci Sequence for shaping – and they will let me know the secrets – soon before my brain shuts down.
Please please

I am sort of a beginning knitter having picked it up again after a 25 year vacation while I did a lot of quilting. I’ve always been a big fan of the golden ratio and the fibonacci sequence, so I had the inspiration to start thinking about how to knit circle with log spirals coming out of the center. Then I googled fibonacci and knit and found your site. I like this one the best of your fibonacci knits but I dont understand how it was done. Are the number of stitches in each feather equal to a fib # or is the number of increases a fib?

Dear Beverly, good question regarding this piece. The increases follow the Fibonacci sequence but the rows are increased between. I am planning on a pattern and didn’t realise that I had not updated the website regarding this piece. I am to knit another and record properly how it was done. I did post Fibonacci Sequence Capelet. I will write a post on the website and add a reply so you can see it.
thank you checking and reminding me as I had forgotten to complete a post on it.
regards
Connie
