this is an odd thing – maybe an old bear pit

by connie on Feb.20, 2011, under Blog

It looks like it was a bear pit at one time where I expect people could stand around it and view the bears at “play”. Now it contains various animal sculptures as well as a naked young woman in high heeled shoes, long evening gloves. She has long dark hair and is sitting with a sleeping giraffe. On the same level is a small portable clothes line – very odd indeed.

The pit is just outside the old walls of Maastricht and it a lovely walk. Lovely textures, colours, old buildings, fortress, a statue of D’Artagnon and much much more.

There is also the statue of a bear which looks like it is getting up or maybe it is going to sit down – and you can sit with the bear and talk to it. I’ve not seen any children there – but I could imagine children doing just that.

My Maastricht Day

by connie on Feb.11, 2011, under Blog

Best Beloved worked all day as he does when he is in Maastricht. Me, I wandered about and took about 150 photos. These are only some. They are here because they are quirky, interesting shapes, or just something you may not expect. Hope you enjoy them. I didn’t really think you would really like 50 photos of stone walls.

I did buy one 100gm ball of Regia lace, and I did buy grandson in New Zealand a couple of pairs of jeans. He has a birthday in June. I know that as a to be 8 year old – he won’t be that excited by jeans so I will add something fun like star wars or lego or something. The jeans look cool to me, his mormor.

We have had the call – regarding the ball cover in Maastricht

by connie on Apr.28, 2010, under Blog, Knit Art Graffiti

The news is in – the ball cover has gone – it was noted at about 3.30 pm today (Wednesday) that there is no longer a red and white knitted cover on any of the balls by the side entrance to the Vodafone building in Maastricht

I am not heart broken this time
I am not gutted

I am busy knitting something orange for Queens Day and I have two patterns to finish. I have also purchased an orange hat with orange flowers to wear should we wander about on the day to experience all things orange. Check out Koninginnedag – Queens Day here

I am sorry I didn’t finish all the ends properly.

We don’t know if it lasted the weekend, we only know it was there 3.30pm Friday and today we know it is not there. It could have gone at 3.35pm on Friday.

Vodafone was yarn bombed in Maastricht yesterday

by connie on Apr.24, 2010, under Blog, Knit Art Graffiti

I think we have said it already – we (Best Beloved and I) installed a ball cover / disguise on a ball outside Vodafone offices yesterday morning in Maastricht.

Maybe Vodafoners are so used to odd ball things which is why they just walked by without so much as a sideways glance.

So successfully installed.

Ball Cover was tooo Big

We were not accosted by anyone

TNT deliverers noticed. Vodafoners walked by.

It was still there at 3.30pm
